Gents,

We discussed having a War and Conquest doubles day last night.

The most appropriate day appears to be Sunday 30th June.

It'll be 2 games (3500) points and if possible, we'll theme it, so that it's
Dark Ages, Armies & enemies of Rome or something similar.

If you fancy joining in, but dont know the rules, we can always pair you up
with somebody who does.

If you can let me know whether you're interested as soon as possible, we can
book the hall.

The cost should be about £10 per player, including lunch.

Cheers,

Phil.

I will aim to get along although I can only make the morning. Any thoughts about themes yet? Is it worth trying to stick to one of the old WAB Historical books, or even one of the books that didn't get written?

Nogbad,

It's very difficult to stick to a book that hasn't been written yet !!

However, on the Scarab Miniatures website forum, there are free lists that cover just about every army/period.

Hopefully in the next couple of weeks we'll have an idea of who's attending and what armies everybody's
got, then we'll try and organise the games historically.

Doubles day Empty Details for Doubles Day

Post  phil24 June 7th 2013, 09:00

Please arrive around 9am, the first game will start circa 9.30

Army size: 3500 points. Armies should be selected from the scarab website online army organisation lists. You may include up to 500 points of Legends of War within the 3500 points.

If you have not yet confirmed your attendance or army preference, please let me know as soon as possible.

The entries received so far are for armies of the classical period, but we'll try and accomodate whatever army you want to bring.

We dont mind how you set up your army, one person providing a 3500 point army or both players providing 1750 points each, although it would be nice if they are historical allies. Unfortunately Reece can't join us this time, so his usual Viking/ ChaosSpace Marine combo wont be making an appearance.

We intend to play 2 games, 9.30am - 12.30pm and 1pm - 4pm. The following deployments and objectives will be used. Attendees are urged to read the 'Battle Begins' section starting on page 153. You can download a set of cards with the Battle Objectives from our web site to speed up selection. Remember, 'No Plan Survives Contact with the Enemy' on page 159.

Game 1
Deployment Zone: Summer (page 155)
Deployment Method: (2) Deploy by Formation Type (page 158)
Game Length: Fixed Length (page 159)

Game 2
Deployment Zone: Autumn (page 155)
Deployment Method: (5) One Side Deploys First (page 158)
Game Length: Variable Length (page 159)

You may use Veiled Hand (page 158) in the games, should you so wish. As for a number of players this will be their first games, it would be polite to let your opponent know you are doing so.

Terrain
Items of club terrain will be on the tables. Don't forget to select at least one Rally Point each. With that in mind, you will need to bring something to indicate your Rally Point, and if you wish to bring one or two items of terrain, that is absolutely fine.

Winning and Losing
There is no “street cred” in winning a game of toy soldiers. There will be a number of people who haven’t played much/at all, so please help them along and enjoy the day.

Finish time
About 4.30pm

Questions?
Please get in contact via email at philturner@talktalk.net or telephone, 07794908204.
If you cannot make the event or are delayed on the day, please let us know.

Gents,

I spoke to Rob last night. Scarab Miniatures are offering the following deals for doubles day

Metal products (Scarab/Great War etc), buy 5 get a sixth (the cheapest- or equal cheapest) free. This can be set up to customers best advantage.

Wargames Factory- a straight £12 per box. Good for starting a new army.

Any thing else (Saga, War & Conquest etc), drop Rob an email and he can sort it out

info@scarabminiatures.com

Preorders would be advisable, not sure what stock he will be bringing yet.
