X-Wing Tournament
For those that don't know me, I'm Paul, and can generally be found at the club playing board games with Ginge, Dobbo and Reece.
With the recent interest and uptake of X-Wing at the club, I'm looking at setting up a little tournament. I'm just trying to gauge interest to see how feasible it would be.
If you've completely missed out on the X-Wing bandwagon (or like me, up until recently, not seen the Star Wars films) then X-Wing is a ship-to-ship space combat game based in the Star Wars universe. It's a very easy game to pick up and play, is relatively cheap to get into and involves decently pre painted miniatures.
If you're interested in learning to play, or fancy taking part in a tournament, either post below or see me at the club.
For those keen people who want to buy buy buy (Dave), this is where I get my X-Wing models from: Gameslore
As for what to buy (apart from everything!) this site shows what pilots you get with each individual ship as well as special skills, upgrades and points values, so hopefully you can decide what you want to play before you buy.
Standard games are 100 points and this is probably what the tournament will use, although details are yet to be confirmed.
For full rules see here
For current FAQ see here
If you'd like any more info, let me know

Re: X-Wing Tournament
Sounds about bloody right! And to rub salt into the wound, you'd probably beat me with them too
Just played our first 3 games today. Nice and easy rules, so even Reece might be able to understand them

Excellent, so that's at least 4, but I'm sure a few more will join the ranks.
I intend to try and split the players evenly between Imperials and Rebels, so any preferences. Think I'm on a play the Imperials.
And Paul, I'm sure between all of the collectors/addicts at the club, we will have enough models to help people make up fleets!

Re: X-Wing Tournament
I don't mind having a go at this.
I'm a rookie pilot without a ship.
Also I would need some sort of organised nights for it so as not to interrupt the AWI, FIW, 2nd Afghan, Naps , Crimean, boardgames and now ACW that goes on
Roll on the garage conversion so I can play without the wife wondering where her dining room has gone
Simon.

Re: X-Wing Tournament
I just noticed that there is a lot of material in Vassel for Star Wars X-Wing. http://www.vassalengine.org/wiki/Module:Star_Wars:_X-Wing_Miniatures_Game
I don't know much about Vassel yet but it is a project for this year. It is a system for allowing people to play a board game over a computer. I wondered, if some preliminary play was needed and / or campaign whether Vassel might be something to think about?
